| The research concentrates on a cellular networks, UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) in particular and on their cooperation with other mobile networks, for example ad hoc. UMTS networks are currently operational in many countries in the world. In order to fully exploit the available capacity and to provide increased data rates and reduced latencies to users, UMTS has been extended with the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology. For the downlink, from base station to mobile, this is the HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) technology. Its equivalent in the uplink, from mobile to base station, is the Enhanced Uplink (EUL). Scheduling is one way to improve the performance of the EUL, which is the research goal in the first phase of the research. There we concentrate on single base station per cell and multi cell scenario. At a following, later phase the co-operation of UMTS infrastructure and smaller scale networks, i.e. ad hoc, is the topic of research. For this part relaying and clustering play central role. |
