| This research programme examines how changes of regimes in Indonesia between the 1910s and 1960 affected the meaning and functioning of the State and its role in the economy. The research programme consists of two Ph.D. projects entitled 'State Performance and Political Culture in Indonesia' and 'The Political Economy of Transition in Indonesia' as well as an international conference providing the basis for a collective volume with a synthesis. The programme is executed at the Department of History of Leiden University and envisages a close co-operation with historians in Indonesia and the Netherlands. The total research budget is 410,000. |
