| Mission |
The aim is to stimulate and perform interdisciplinary, contextualizing research that focuses on themes, theories and methodologies that provide refreshing - and, preferably, innovative - perspectives on the so-called modernization of Western society and culture; on its political, social and cultural trans¬formations; and on the problems and reactions it triggers. Special attention is thereby devoted to specific types of processes, such as: political and social integration (and exclusion), the shaping of collective representations and identities, demarcations between rationality and irrationality, standardi¬zation and marginalization, and the interactions between knowledge (science and technology) and culture as expressed in the form of mutually influencing genres, discourses, institutions and practices. |
