| Mission |
The Academy's mission: As the forum, conscience, and voice of the arts and sciences in the Netherlands, the Academy promotes the quality of scientific and scholarly work and strives to ensure that Dutch scholars and scientists make the best possible contribution to the cultural, social, and economic development of Dutch society. The KNAW has the following tasks: 1) Advising the government on matters related to scientific research 2) Assessing the quality of scientific research (peer review) 3) Providing a forum for the scientific world and promoting international scientific cooperation 4) Acting as an umbrella organisation for the institutes primarily engaged in basic and strategic scientific research and disseminating information. |
