Mission The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV-KNAW) focuses on the advancement of the study of anthropology, linguistics, social sciences and history with respect to Southeast Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean. There is a special emphasis on Indonesia, Suriname, the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. The Institute collects and provides access to books and other documents, carries out and stimulates research and publishes books and periodicals. The KITLV-KNAW has its headquarters in Leiden and a branch in Jakarta.
