The Netherlands National Computing Facilities Foundation (NCF) is an independent foundation under the umbrella of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). NCF has been founded in 1990, with the mission to advance scientific research by facilitating high-end ICT infrastructures to excellent researchers. Traditionally, this has meant supercomputing facilities to research groups of Dutch universities and research institutes. For a few years now, NCF has broadened its scope by facilitating advanced compute and data storage resources as part of a so-called Dutch Science Grid. In collaboration with partners Nikhef and NBIC, NCF runs the BIG GRID project, which aims to set up a science grid in the Netherlands. NCF is corresponding author of the BIG GRID project. NCF's organisation consists of three main parts: | -the NCF board| -the NCF office, headed by Patrick Aerts| -NCF's scientific committee (WGS) |
